Titanium alloy has good room temperature and high temperature mechanical properties, excellent fatigue resistance and crack growth resistance. In recent years, with the rapid development of the global aerospace industry and the application of the new technology of superplastic forming and diffusion bonding of titanium alloy sheets, the international and domestic demand for titanium alloy sheets has increased. In the domestic production of titanium alloy sheet, most of them still use single-piece rolling. Due to the poor plasticity of titanium alloy at low temperature and large cold deformation and work hardening, it is extremely difficult to produce thin-plate by single-piece method. The degree of cold rolling deformation rate does not exceed 25%, and it requires multiple cold rolling, intermediate annealing, alkali pickling, and process defects such as cracks, cracks, slag drop, and pitting during rolling. According to relevant statistics, in the production of TC4 sheet, the invisible loss caused by alkali pickling and polishing is as high as about 30%, and the overall yield is only about 35%, and the production cycle is long and the performance is unstable.
Russia's AVSMA-VSMPO, American Reactive Metal Company (RMI) and Japan's NKK Company all use the cladding and rolling process to produce titanium alloy sheets.
