At the project site of Baotai Titanium Industrial Park Aerospace wide titanium alloy plate and strip foil production line, Wang Jian, the project leader and Deputy General Manager of Baotai Group, said that “Up to now, the production line building and equipment infrastructure of the wide plate hot rolling mill have been basically completed, and about 85% of the main engine equipment and its supporting facilities have been installed. The foil’s new factory building has been completed, the continuous annealing furnace has been installed and debugged, and the unit equipment has been put into trial production.” The project mainly focuses on the construction of the aerospace-grade broad titanium alloy plate production line and the supplement and improvement of the strip and foil production equipment, which will effectively expand the production capacity, increase the company’s titanium and titanium alloy plate, strip, foil product specifications, improve product quality. After the project reaches production, the production capacity will be increased by 1500 tons per year for plate and 5500 tons per year for foil.
“The project to build high-quality titanium ingot, tube and profile production lines will rely on existing technology and production equipment to build production lines for high-quality titanium alloy ingots, tubes and profiles, and to optimize and expand the capacity of the existing production systems for titanium alloy ingots, tubes and profiles,” Chen Zhanqian, the project leader and Deputy General Manager of Baotai Group, told reporters. At present, the main part of the newly-built factory building of the titanium ingot project has been completed, and other projects are in a tight closing stage, additional equipment is being installed. The newly-built workshop of tube and profile project has been completed and put into use. Many sets of cold-rolling tube mills have been put into trial production. After the project reaches production, the production capacity of titanium and titanium alloy ingot can be increased by 10,000 tons per year, pipe 290 tons per year and profile 100 tons per year.
Zhang Yansheng, head of the high-quality titanium alloy smelting and recycling project and deputy general manager of Baotai, said, “At present, 90% of the building’s independent foundation works have been completed, and the construction of the equipment foundation has basically been completed. The EAF equipment is being urgently installed, and EB furnace is in the process of being manufactured.” The project of high-quality titanium alloy smelting and recycling utilization of returned material is to further improve the processing capacity of returned material and the production capacity of ingot by adding a new electron beam cold bed melting furnace and its supporting equipment, after the project reaches production, it can realize the return material recovery of about 1631 tons per year, adding about 3900 tons of high-quality ingot per year.
