AMS4928 Titanium Rod

AMS4928 is a specification standard for Titanium alloy Grade 5 rods. It outlines the composition and mechanical properties of the material, as well as certain manufacturing requirements. This type of titanium rod is commonly used in a variety of industries, including aerospace, engineering, and medical devices due to its high strength-to-weight ratio, corrosion resistance, and biocompatibility. It is also known by its trade name Ti-6Al-4V, which designates its primary elements of aluminum (6%) and vanadium (4%).

The standard for AMS4928 Titanium rod includes the following specifications:

Chemical Composition: The titanium rod should consist of at least 90% titanium, with other elements such as aluminum and vanadium, not exceeding 10%.

Mechanical Properties: The rod should have a minimum tensile strength of 138 ksi (950 MPa) and a minimum yield strength of 128 ksi (880 MPa). The elongation percentage at break should be at least 10%.

Manufacturing Process: The titanium rod should be produced using either a vacuum arc remelt (VAR) or an electron beam (EB) melting process.

Dimensional Requirements: The diameter of the titanium rod should fall between 0.25 inches (6.35 mm) to 3 inches (76.2 mm), with a length of up to 144 inches (3657.6 mm). The roundness and straightness should meet the specified requirements.

Surface Finish: The titanium rod's surface finish should be smooth and free from any defects, cracks, or scratches.

Certification: AMS4928 Titanium Rod requires certification from the manufacturer, confirming that the product fully meets the specified requirements.
