what is GR3 and GR4?
American Standard Gr3
This grade uses the least commercially pure titanium grades, but that doesn't make it any less valuable. Gr3 grades are stronger than GR1 and GR2 grades and are similarly ductile with only slight formability. But it has higher mechanical properties.
Grade GR3 is used in applications requiring moderate strength and primary corrosion resistance. These include:
aerospace structure
chemical treatment
Medical industry
marine industry
American Standard Gr4
Grade GR4 is considered the strongest of the four commercially pure titaniums. It is also known for its excellent corrosion resistance, good formability and weldability.
Although it is commonly used in the following industrial applications, recently grade 4 has found a niche in medical grade titanium. It is required in applications requiring high strength:
Airframe components
Cryogenic containers
Heat exchanger
CPI equipment
Condenser tubes
Surgical hardware
Pickling Baskets
