Present situation and development trend of titanium alloy plate industry

Titanium and titanium alloys have been widely used in industry, medical treatment and other special industries because of their unique properties that other metals cannot match. In the world, the aerospace industry is the largest application field of titanium, and its consumption has accounted for 80% of the total titanium production, with military aircraft accounting for more than 40%. As a strategic metal, titanium alloy plate has become a key material for manufacturing modern ultra-high-speed aircraft, rocket missiles and space shuttles. Chemical industry is the second largest application field of titanium. Titanium and its alloys have become ideal chemical equipment materials due to their excellent chemical corrosion resistance, and are widely used in various synthetic chemical industry, salt chemical industry, petrochemical industry, as well as soda ash, fertilizer, synthetic fiber, paper and other industries.

With the rapid development of China's economy, people's demand for material consumption has developed to a higher level. Titanium and titanium alloys, the "high-priced girls", have gradually entered the field of civil consumption from the fields of aerospace, aviation, national defense and military industry. In 2007, among the sales volume and proportion of titanium and titanium alloy processed products in different fields in China, chemical industry is still the largest user of titanium, accounting for 43.6% of the total amount of titanium used in the country; Aerospace is the second largest user, accounting for 17.2% of titanium consumption. According to the proportion that the output of titanium in foreign countries is 1/10000 of the output of steel, the annual output of titanium and titanium alloy products of China's titanium plate manufacturers should reach 20000~30000 tons, while at present, it is only less than 10000 tons, and it is mainly made of bars, mostly used in spring steel, ball steel and other fields. Titanium and titanium alloy plates and strips and other products still rely on imports.
